Description
Cialis 10 mg is a dosage of tadalafil, which is commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men. Tadalafil works by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping men achieve and maintain an erection when sexually stimulated. It is also prescribed for managing symptoms of BPH, such as frequent urination, by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder.
The drug falls under a class of medications known as phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE5 inhibitors). It works by inhibiting the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5, which regulates blood flow in the penis. By blocking this enzyme  tadalafil allows for increased blood flow, which can enhance erectile function when combined with sexual arousal.
Cialis can be taken as needed before sexual activity or in a lower daily dose for continuous management of ED or BPH symptoms. When taken on an as-needed basis, it is usually taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The effect can last up to 36 hours, which is one of the key advantages of Cialis over other ED medications, such as Viagra, which tends to have a shorter duration of action. This long window of efficacy has earned Cialis the nickname “The Weekend Pill.”
For benign prostatic hyperplasia, Cialis 10 mg is taken daily to alleviate symptoms like difficulty urinating or an urgent need to urinate. This daily dosing helps to maintain a steady level of tadalafil in the bloodstream, ensuring continuous relief from BPH symptoms.
Common side effects of Cialis include headaches, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, nasal congestion, and flushing. These side effects are typically mild and go away within a few hours. In rare cases, more serious side effects like sudden vision or hearing loss, priapism (a prolonged and painful erection), or cardiovascular issues may occur. Men with heart conditions or a history of stroke should consult a doctor before taking Cialis as it can interact with certain medications, especially nitrates, leading to dangerously low blood pressure.
Cialis is available only with a prescription, and its use should be guided by a healthcare professional to ensure it’s appropriate based on an individual’s medical history and current health conditions. It should not be combined with other PDE5 inhibitors or used with certain medications unless cleared by a doctor.
Tadalafil should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct light, and kept out of reach of children. Always follow the prescribed dosage and avoid exceeding the recommended dose, as doing so can increase the risk of side effects.
